For some time I have been concerned about the lack of awareness of the many businesses’ skills, services and goods that are available on our doorstep, and the lack of promotion within the business community. As a result I, along with three partners, Malcolm Scott Walby, Adrian Carter andTony Raybould, have formed a team.
Our first action is to create a website called www.BuyDorset.co.uk, which is focused on promoting Dorset businesses and their activities to other businesses and the community at large in Dorset. There are only two requirements.
- Agree to a pledge that as a business, wherever possible, they will source goods and services from within the County boundary.
- Actively offer special rates to the Dorset community.
This website is fully searchable by keywords etc. and there will also be a calendar of events focused on helping Dorset businesses to promote themselves from within the county. The aim is to get as many of Dorset’s 28,000+ businesses as possible listed on this website then encourage people to use this as a source of information on suppliers etc. We firmly believe that there are sufficient funds being generated through small, medium and large organisations to keep the Dorset community happy in these challenging times.
We have support from Annette Brooke and Oliver Letwin who are very positive about our activities, and any support that you can give to this campaign would be greatly appreciated as it is currently being funded by the partners with no external help. We are all totally committed to helping the Dorset Business environment.
